Even though some of the sales have already started (!) I’m holding out for January as this is when the major discounts happen and you find it tends to be on more current trends as well as the higher end products that tend to last longer.
This year I’ve got my eye on a few different pieces and am particularly on the lookout for trends which I think will hit us next year! I’m also keen to invest in a few basics that will stand the test of time. I tend not to go for fads or trends as much as possible but if there is something that stands out such as the neon trend that is definitely going to be major next Summer I’ll try and pick up a few accent pieces.
By building a sales ‘Wishlist’ for the season and trying to forecast trends you avoid impulse buying and wasting money, as well as adding pieces that can be mixed and matched with other items you already own!
THE SMART BLACK COAT
A timeless black coat is so worth investing, and I’m really going to keep an eye out for one similar to this. Slightly oversized so it can be dressed up or down, and in a smooth fabric that doesn’t attract too much lint.
I am ALL OVER THIS.
If I can find metallic fringe details I’m going to get even more excited. I think this is such a gorgeous way of adding something extra to an outfit, I would save these sorts of pieces for evening although I have seen some gorgeous combinations of tassel skirts and knitwear so we will see!
MINIMAL, TAILORED WHITE
I wear an awful lot of black and am hoping to move away from that in the New Year. I have a gorgeous white jumper that I wear a lot at the moment and get compliments when I do. This year I’m going to invest in some key pieces which are minimal but with important tailoring. Again items that I can dress up or down are top of the list, and anything in a material that offers movement such as silk is going to be a winner.
I pray for the day that the trend for wearing chunky ugly trainers ends. This year I need a new pair of simple trainers that I can wear with a variety of pieces. I LOVE the Adidas originals but am going to explore other options too just in case these aren’t available. Ideally I’d like the pop of colour to be black but I’ll see what alternatives are available.
MONOCHROME GRAPHIC PRINTS
I’ve already seen a couple of pieces that I love but they aren’t in the sale…so favouriting those bad boys in the hopes that they will be discounted come January! I love a print but as I’m quite petite I need to make sure I can wear it and it doesn’t wear me. I’m looking for some statement pieces that have a print bold enough to draw attention but don’t take over.
Well, specifically silk/satin. But I’m not going to leave anyone out. Camel/Tan/Nude whichever you call it is a classic addition to any wardrobe. Anyone can wear it if you get the shade right and for me it’s a natural I can wear through all seasons so anything I buy in this colour tends to get worn a lot. I would love to find a blouse and a wide legged pair of trousers.
And there you have it! I’ll do a follow up post on anything I do buy…maybe even a YouTube Haul?? Who am I honestly.
